Hey creator,
Let me say the thing no one says enough:
You’re not supposed to feel ready.
Not when you launch your newsletter.
Not when you post your first Reel.
Not even when you land your first client or hit ₹1L/month.
If you’re waiting for readiness, you’re waiting for permission.
In today’s issue, I want to show you how to build momentum, even when you don’t feel ready. With a real storytelling trick, a scene setup that screams “behind-the-scenes,” and a mindset shift that helped me ship 3x faster.
Let’s dive in.
🎬 Hook of the Week
“You don’t need more confidence. You need more evidence.”
Why it works:
Because we often overestimate the feeling of “confidence” and underestimate the value of “evidence” (a.k.a. reps, feedback, traction). This hook makes your audience feel seen, and ready to act.
Use it to open a Reel with this voiceover or text:
“Still waiting to feel ready to post? Here’s what you actually need...”
Combine with a personal story:
I didn’t feel ready to pitch my writing. I still wrote. 3 months later, I landed my first ₹40,000 client. Confidence didn’t come first. Action did.
🛠️ Framework Breakdown: The 3-Scene Story
Let’s make storytelling easier. Here's a dead-simple 3-scene structure:
1. Before: Show the struggle (e.g. “I had no clue what to post”)
2. Shift: Introduce the experiment or lesson (e.g. “I tried this hook formula”)
3. After: Share the result or change (e.g. “My next Reel got 10K views”)
This is perfect for a Reel or Carousel.
You don’t need to overthink plot arcs.
You just need a before → turning point → after.
📸 Scene Setup of the Week
Setup: Sitting at your desk at night, laptop open, low light, editing or writing something.
Why it works:
Feels raw and authentic
Shows the real “work” behind content creation
Perfect for layering with voiceover or quotes
Shot ideas:
Side angle of typing, light bouncing off your face
Close-up of fingers editing a script
Cut to a sticky note on your wall: “Publish. Don’t perfect.”
Pair it with a voiceover:
“Most people don’t post because they’re scared of being seen. I was too.”
✂️ Editing Trick to Try: Match Cut
What it is: A transition between two clips that have similar visuals (shapes, actions, or color), making the cut feel seamless.
Example:
Clip 1: Closing a laptop at night
Clip 2: Opening it in the morning, same angle
This shows continuity, gives your Reel a more “cinematic” feel, and builds a visual rhythm your audience will love.
Tools: CapCut and VN both support simple match cut effects if you align your shots well. I prefer Resolve obviously!
🧠 Creative Prompt of the Week
“What’s something you did before you felt ready but you’re now so glad you started anyway?”
Write about it.
Share it as a thread, a story, or a single post.
And tag me if you post. I want to read it.
💌 Closing Note
This week's theme is all about momentum.
Forget motivation. Forget being 100% clear.
Just make the next thing however imperfect it is.
In the next issue, I’ll show you how I reuse one messy idea across 5 different platforms and how you can too.
Until then
Think deeply. Create freely. Iterate often.
With love,
Aditi
